This sailing season will see many exciting developments in the training department. Sunday morning training, our most popular activity will still be on… September to Easter…Sunday mornings 10am-12 noon…free to members.
We have a number of different boat types from Minnows to Vagabond monohulls, or Sailboards, so if you don’t have a boat it’s not a problem. Children and adults all welcome, it’s a great way for families to learn together.
We are also introducing racing every Sunday morning, 10am, designed for beginners. We will team you up with more experienced sailors if you lack confidence or skills and get ready for the adrenaline rush of racing…all welcome.
September School Holidays, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd October (10am-4pm) will once again buzz as the juniors and those kids interested in trying out the sport join the Introduction to Sailing course. This is a two-day course, which includes junior club membership for the season, a chance to make new friends, try out a new sport, and have a great time.
As usual there are many other courses on offer for club members First Aid, Radio License, Powerboat Handling (Speedboat Licenses), Get into Small Boat Sailing, Assistant Instructor and Instructor courses, Rescue Boat Handling, Rules seminars, and many more. These courses are very reasonable and subsidised through Qld Dept of Sports and Recreation. We are always interested in providing new courses, so if you need to learn something, let us know. Coaching for class racing will be available on the second Saturday of the month, with the club social on Saturday night and followed by Club Championship races on Sunday. A great weekend at the Lake…a chance to put what you’ve learnt into practice.
